Baby Swimming Classes

Baby Swimming Lessons Coffs Harbour

IMPORTANCE OF BABY SWIMMING LESSONS

It’s vital to teach children about water safety as young as possible. The sooner you start, the safer they are. Our pools cater to babies of all ages, but we start teaching at three months old. We find that’s the magic age to introduce a baby to the water.

Because babies younger than one-year-old accept water easily, it’s the best time to introduce swimming. They have no fear of water; this is only acquired as they grow. That’s why our
swim classes begin with water familiarisation. Then, we teach the basics of swimming by having them mimic swimming patterns. We start with safety and then move onto strokes.

Our baby pools at both locations contain everything needed to make your baby comfortable. Each is specially-designed and set up for the baby swimming class. During the instruction, babies also experience growth cognitively, socially and physically.

Swimming Classes For Babies

Once your baby experiences the water and spends time bonding with you, the next steps come. We start by having them repeat our behaviours. Over time, this leads into building on these basic skills.

By the time the babies become two-years-old, they should be able to move to regular
swimming lessons. That’s because they practised what was taught with their parents. Every swimming lesson counts. The earlier a child is taught, the more they learn. That’s why we aim to start as early as possible. Our program has been around for more than 15 years with an exceptional track record.

We only employ the best techniques for working with children. Our expert team & swimming instructors has the patience, enthusiasm and know-how to take your babies to the next level. We encourage you to come in for a lesson. Whether it is mum or dad that wants to participate, we guarantee you will see the benefits of our well-designed program.

How Swim Lessons Can Help Your Baby

Swimming classes do not just help your child get a head-start on learning the vital skill of swimming - they can have plenty of other additional benefits too. The movements we do when swimming might boost our brains when we're younger, building our neurons and helping our brain development. This can help your child with language, learning and even reading, Under the same principle, swimming infants might also be better at socialisation than non-swimmers. The first few years of a child’s life are highly paramount for development, so doing what you can to help this along might make a big difference over time.

Our baby classes in Coffs Harbour will also give your child a chance to interact with other infants, further helping them with their socialising and giving them the confidence they will need as they grow. Activities in the water, such as those that involve toys, can also improve your baby’s fine motor skills, agility and balance. Signing up your baby to our swimming lessons, whether you are closer to Boambee or Moonee, can seriously help them both physically and mentally. Give us a call today and we can register your baby for the classes that are right for them.

Why Choose Swimcare?

At Swimcare in Coffs Harbour, you can be sure that our staff receive regular training and have the qualifications to run our baby swimming classes. This includes the necessary certifications for working with children, and all our instructors have AUSTSWIM accreditations. This means they know how to deliver the best lessons for your baby – with this being an unconventional time for them to start swimming, getting it right is very important. Instructors must pace these lessons to make sure everything is perfectly fit for the developing minds in their charge and so that they can make the most of your baby’s burgeoning talents.

For two decades, we have worked to promote the endlessly-useful skill of swimming to people of all ages across the Boambee and Moonee areas. We believe that after three months of age, there is no wrong time for a child or person to start swimming – but the sooner you can sign your baby up to our swimming classes, the sooner they will be able to reap all of the great benefits that come from learning to swim early.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I prepare my baby for swimming lessons?
    • The best way to prepare your baby is to get them used to spending time in the water.
    • Playing and splashing in the bath is a great way to get them familiarised with water and show them that it’s a safe and comfortable place to be.
    •  You could also try visiting your local pool so your baby gets to experience the atmosphere and surroundings before their first lesson.
  • When should I feed my baby before a lesson?
    • Whether or not your child is on solids, we recommend feeding them at least 45 minutes to one hour before their swimming lesson. This gives them plenty of time to digest their food.
    • If your child is on solids, we recommend having just a light meal or snack before swimming.
    •  Be aware that your baby might be more hungry than usual after their lesson because of all the extra exercise and might want to feed immediately afterwards!
  • What temperature is the water at baby swim lessons?
    • For babies aged 12 weeks and over, it’s recommended that pool water needs to be heated to at least 30 degrees centigrade. All of our baby swimming lessons take place in pools that are properly heated to ensure your baby is safe and comfortable throughout the session.
  • What should my baby wear for their swimming lesson?
    • Babies can wear whatever they feel comfortable in and there is plenty of swimwear available that is specially designed for small babies and their needs.
    • Regardless of what they wear, it’s important that babies also wear a waterproof nappy throughout the whole lesson.
  • Do parents need to be strong swimmers to join a baby swim lesson?
    • We encourage parents to join in with lessons but there’s no need to be a strong swimmer yourself.
    • Our baby swimming lessons take place in shallow pools where adults can easily stand and walk around. You’re welcome to join your baby regardless of your own swimming ability.
  • When should my child be able to swim independently?
    • Introducing your child to swimming at an early age means they can start swimming independently sooner.
    • Each child is different but most of the time, they’re able to swim some basic strokes on their own by the age of three.
    • Children who are introduced to the water as babies can usually join our regular swimming lessons when they’re aged two. We also offers swimming class for kids and squads swimming lessons for adults.
